Janurary 2010 Meeting
Introductions
CIP: Tracy is now in charge of re-licensing and placement, Jaclyn is in charge of new licensing and they are looking to hire someone for the day care position. The rules for licensing will be changing a bit as the levels of care is changed. Level I will be court-ordered kinship, Level II will be regular foster care (US), Level III will be treatment foster care, Level IV will be a higher level of treatment care, and Level V will be group homes. All foster parents will be required to do FBIfingerprinting when they are re-licensed. It will just be best to make it standard for everyone.
DCFS:
Hired a new ongoing worker Susanne Smith. Andrea had her baby and will be out until April. They temporarily hired Patty Blatter to help shoulder part of Andrea’s case load. There is one more opening to fill in the ongoing unit.
Treasurer’s Report: Savings accounthas $1735.58, Checking account has $823.43 (storage payment due and we get a free month if we pay for a year up front).
Old Business:
Election of a Vice President: Ed Ide ran against Robin Neeson. Ed ended up conceding and Robin was voted in as our new V.P.
Jen will send a thank-you letter to Luisa’s and St. Joe’s for the Christmas activities.
New Business:
For fundraising we have the McDonald’s scheduled for 1/19 and 2/17, the Bake Sale on 2/11 from 8-noon in south 11 (Robin, Jen and Steph volunteered to help), the Garage Sale is 4/30-5/1. Plant Sale scheduled and the plants ordered for the week before Mother’s Day.
We voted on a couple committees to help shoulder the burden for organizing some of the events.
Fundraising: Diane, Steph, Becky Hart
Party Committee: Robin, Cait, ChrisMatke, Jen (we talked about perhaps a pool partyin the summer at a public place)
Julie volunteered to help find speakers for the meetings. Ed Ide is asking the Sheriff to come to the March meeting and bring a couple deputies to perhaps do fingerprinting at that time. There were also suggestions for Head Start, Division of Health (car seats, etc), Birth to 3, a therapist, a RAD counselor, etc. We also discussed a positive reinforcement seminar (Kristina is looking for someone for that).
We decided to have our meeting after the speaker, so please be on time.
We discussed whether the newsletter should be mailed or emailed. Jen will make a flyer for CIP’s new folders requesting an email address for the association.
We need to look again at the bylaws to make sure we don’t want to vote to change them.
October 2009 Meeting Minutes
Meeting was held on October 9, 2007 and was called to order at 6:34 P.M.
Treasurers report: Savings: $3972.77; Checking: $798.47
D.C.F.S. - During the week of December 3rd, they will be going through "Continuous Quality Improvement" inspection from the State of Wisconsin. They will check over six cases dealing with abuse and neglect. The procedure is to interview the caseworker, the child (if over 7), the foster parents, the biological parents (if available) and the therapist if one is active for the child. This investigation is to check on the quality of care being given by each county. It is also an ongoing procedure.
As of the end of September there have been 30 TPR cases. The total for 2006 was 27 and the total for 2005 was 30. Also as of the end of September there wer 18 guardianship cases.
Old Business: The "Night at McDonald's" was Thursday the 4th. The total was not available at meeting time.
The Christmas Party is December 9th at the U.A.W. Local 72 located on Washington Road. It will start at noon and go until 3:00. this year we will have it catered because there were some problems in the past with potluck. There will be a charge to cover the expense of the caterer. Adults will be $5, youth (3-18) will be $3 and under 3 are free.
Many people did not attend the September 22nd Scrapbooking event, but we did make $175.
New Business: We are working toward sending ou the newsletter via email starting in January. We also discussed setting up a website in order for up-to-date information to be shared with foster parents. We are considering putting the newsletter on the webstie and emailing foster parents when the newsletter is ready for you to check out at your leisure. We would also use email addresses of foster parents in order to send out reminder emails regarding events and fundraisers a day or so in advance of the event. By doing this by email and through the website we would save a lot of time and money by not sending out specialized flyers.
We have had a great response so far so if you could please email kenoshafosterparents@yahoo.com the following information:
1. Your name and email address
2. Whether you would like to receive the newsletter information via email or regular "snail" mail
3. If you would like to not receive the newsletter any more.
We know that our mailing lists are not always up to date, so if you are receiving the newsletter in error, please let us know. This will save the association the extra work and the department extra money
If you have any further questions, you can contact Diane Lefers at 697-4156 or mdlefers@yahoo.com
We hope to have this going by January 2008, so please email your responses as soon as possible. Thanks.
